Motor Protection

Motor Electrical Protection

• Thermal Overload
                   Process Caused (Excessive load)
High Ambient Conditions (Hot, Blocked Ventilation)
Power Supply Issues (Voltage/Current Unbalance, Harmonics)
       Phase Fault
• Ground Fault
• Abnormal Operating Conditions
   Over & Under Voltage
   Under frequency
   Voltage and Current Unbalance
   Load Loss
   Jamming
   Jogging

Thermal over load protection

The tripping time is calculated according to a simple formula. Pre-stressing is not taken into account because currents are only recorded if they are greater than 1.1 times the set value.
Negative Sequence Protection
Short Circuit Protection

Testing
Current Signature Analysis
During this training following points needs to be covered for condition based-monitoring techniques:

Online Testing of HT Motors
1.Vibration Signature Analysis (VSA)
2.Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA)
3.Acoustic Emission Analysis (AEA)

Residual Life Assesment (RLA) / Life Expectancy Analysis of HT Motors
1.Polarization Depolarization Current Analysis
2.Non Linear Behavior Analysis
3.Partial Discharge Recording and Analysis
4.Winding Resistance Measurement.
